“If all artists took more exercise they would be better artists”…
According to Hon. Neville Lytton, Tennis Champion and Artist on in his NY Times Interview 4/5/1914. “Plato declared that man, to be complete must be body and mind. If we were like the old Greeks it would be much better for us. All of them took exercise….”
Lytton continued, “I have been playing court tennis now for ten years and besides, painting all the time. If I went forty-eight hours without exercise I should feel that I had committed a sin”.
In NYC for a tournament, although Lytton lost his match, he exhibited 46 paintings at Ralston galleries. These included 3 portraits below.
